Each method hides something different. Removing the Online Store takes the product off your storefront only. Draft and Archived stop customers buying it anywhere, and Unlisted keeps it on sale at its direct URL.<\/p>\n<p>Shopify can schedule when a product appears, but not when it disappears. An unlisted product is not hidden from people who have the link. An archived product stays in its collections, but customers cannot view it there.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Which_method_should_you_choose\"><\/span>Which method should you choose?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Match the method to the reason you are hiding the product.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To keep selling in your other sales channels, such as point of sale, remove the Online Store.<\/li>\n<li>To stop all sales while you fix photos, prices or descriptions, use Draft.<\/li>\n<li>To sell only to people who have the link, use Unlisted.<\/li>\n<li>To retire a product, archive it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None of these deletes the product. You can bring it back later by changing the status or adding the Online Store again.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Before_you_start\"><\/span>Before you start<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the product and note its current status and sales channels.<\/li>\n<li>Decide whether other sales channels should keep selling it.<\/li>\n<li>If you plan to schedule, check your store&#39;s time zone under <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>General<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Store defaults<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Remember that an archived product comes back as Draft when you unarchive it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_you_hide_a_product_from_the_Online_Store\"><\/span>How do you hide a product from the Online Store?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Remove the Online Store in the product&#39;s <strong>Publishing<\/strong> section. Use Draft when no sales channel should sell it. An active product still needs <strong>Online Store<\/strong> turned on in the <strong>Publishing<\/strong> section to appear on your storefront.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_you_archive_a_product\"><\/span>How do you archive a product?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Archive a product you no longer sell. Shopify hides it from your storefront and moves it to the <strong>Archived<\/strong> tab of your <strong>Products<\/strong> page.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In your Shopify admin, go to <strong>Products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the product name.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>More actions<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Archive product<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Archive product?<\/strong> dialog, click <strong>Archive product<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popautomate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/hide-products-shopify-3.png\" alt=\"Shopify product page More actions menu with the Archive product option\"><br \/>\n<em>Archive a product from the More actions menu.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To bring it back, open it from the <strong>Archived<\/strong> tab and click <strong>More actions<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Unarchive product<\/strong>. Shopify sets it to Draft, so change it to Active and check the <strong>Publishing<\/strong> section before customers can buy it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_you_hide_many_products_at_once\"><\/span>How do you hide many products at once?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tick the products in your <strong>Products<\/strong> list, then use a bulk action. To take products off your storefront, use <strong>Exclude from sales channels<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.shopify.com\/en\/manual\/shopify-admin\/productivity-tools\/bulk-actions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shopify&#39;s bulk actions page<\/a> calls this action Make products unavailable. For status changes, the bulk editor&#39;s <strong>Status<\/strong> options include Archived.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In your Shopify admin, go to <strong>Products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tick the box next to each product.<\/li>\n<li>To remove a sales channel, click the <strong>&#8230;<\/strong> menu and choose <strong>Exclude from sales channels<\/strong>. In the dialog, tick <strong>Online Store<\/strong> and click <strong>Exclude products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>To change the status instead, open the bulk editor, set <strong>Status<\/strong> for each product, and click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Check one product afterward. A mistake in a bulk change repeats across every selected product.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_you_schedule_when_a_product_shows\"><\/span>How do you schedule when a product shows?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Use Future publishing to set the date and time a product appears on the Online Store. The product must have the <strong>Active<\/strong> status: <a href=\"https:\/\/help.shopify.com\/en\/manual\/shopify-admin\/productivity-tools\/future-publishing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shopify&#39;s Future publishing page<\/a> says a product still in Draft at the scheduled time will not publish.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In your Shopify admin, go to <strong>Products<\/strong> and click the product.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Product status<\/strong> section, confirm the status is <strong>Active<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Publishing<\/strong> section, click the <strong>Adjust<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Manage publishing<\/strong> dialog, turn off the <strong>Online Store<\/strong> toggle.<\/li>\n<li>Click the calendar icon next to <strong>Online Store<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Schedule publishing<\/strong>, choose a date and time, then click <strong>Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Done<\/strong>, then click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/popautomate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/hide-products-shopify-4.png\" alt=\"Shopify Schedule publishing popover with a future date and time for the Online Store\"><br \/>\n<em>Future publishing sets a date and time for the Online Store to show the product.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The default time is the next :00 or :30 mark, but you can type any hour and minute. The time follows your store&#39;s time zone in <strong>Store defaults<\/strong>. You cannot set a date for single variants, and Future publishing does not work for the Shop app.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_do_you_hide_a_product_at_a_set_time_and_show_it_again\"><\/span>How do you hide a product at a set time and show it again?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Shopify has no built-in hide date. Its Future publishing page covers a publish date, which you can edit or delete, and describes no unpublish or end date. Launchpad does not fill the gap either. It is a Shopify Plus app, and <a href=\"https:\/\/help.shopify.com\/en\/manual\/promoting-marketing\/create-marketing\/launchpad\/what-happens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shopify says products it releases stay published<\/a> when the event ends. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/popautomate.com\/blog\/en\/shopify-launchpad\/\">Shopify Launchpad guide<\/a> covers what it does.<\/p>\n<p>That leaves two routes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hide and show the product by hand, with a reminder for each time.<\/li>\n<li>Use a scheduling app that does both steps for you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PopAutomate is a scheduling app made by Grovlix, the publisher of this blog. PopAutomate is not on the Shopify App Store yet. Its help page shows how a schedule <a href=\"https:\/\/popautomate.com\/help\/en\/shopify\/create\/hide-show-products\/\">hides and shows products on the Online Store<\/a>. With <strong>Put everything back at the end<\/strong> ticked, each product goes back to how it was on the Online Store at the end time. Other sales channels do not change.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_is_a_hidden_product_still_showing\"><\/span>Why is a hidden product still showing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Check the cause against the method you used.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The product is Unlisted, so anyone with the direct URL can open it.<\/li>\n<li>It shows in another sales channel. Removing the Online Store changes that channel only.<\/li>\n<li>A third-party search app lists an unlisted product. Shopify warns this can happen.<\/li>\n<li>An archived product stays in its collections in your admin, hidden from customers.<\/li>\n<li>You clicked <strong>Done<\/strong> in the Manage publishing dialog but not <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a hide schedule in an app stopped, check that your store has the Online Store sales channel. Shopify describes an archived product as complete but no longer for sale, and it stays in its collections although customers cannot view it. Archived means the details are complete but the product is no longer for sale. Shopify hides an archived product from your storefront and from the main product list in the admin. You must unarchive it before you can change its status, and it comes back as Draft.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_I_schedule_a_Shopify_product_to_hide_at_a_set_time\"><\/span>Can I schedule a Shopify product to hide at a set time?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Not with Shopify&#39;s own tools. Future publishing sets only a publish date and time, which you can edit or delete, and its help page describes no unpublish or end date. Launchpad, the Shopify Plus event app, leaves released products published when an event ends. It is hidden from internet search, Shopify Catalog, your sitemap, collection pages, storefront search results and product recommendations, and its page carries noindex and nofollow tags.
