15% is the standard rate in Saudi Arabia. Change it to your own rate.

Enter a price and the result shows up here as you type.

Once you know your sale price with VAT, PopAutomate applies it to your Salla or Zid products on time and restores the original price when the offer ends.

VAT formulas

The calculator starts at 15%, the standard VAT rate in Saudi Arabia, and you can change it in the rate field to any VAT or sales tax rate. The formulas below use 15%; for another rate, swap 1.15 for 1 + rate ÷ 100 and 0.15 for rate ÷ 100.

  • Price with VAT = price before VAT × 1.15
  • VAT amount = price before VAT × 0.15
  • Price before VAT = price with VAT ÷ 1.15
  • VAT inside a VAT-inclusive price = price with VAT − (price with VAT ÷ 1.15)

Sale price with VAT

In the "Sale price with VAT" tab, enter the product's price before VAT and the discount to see what the customer actually pays during the offer. VAT is charged on the price after the discount. To round sale prices to endings like .99, use the discount calculator.

How to use it in 3 steps

  1. Choose the calculation

Add VAT to a price before VAT, take VAT out of a price that includes it, or get a sale price with VAT after a discount.

  2. Enter the price and rate

Type the price. The rate starts at 15%, the standard VAT rate in Saudi Arabia; change it if your VAT or sales tax rate is different.

  3. Copy the result

You get three numbers: the price before VAT, the VAT amount, and the price with VAT that your customer pays.

Worked examples

Adding VAT

200 × 1.15 = 230, of which 30 is VAT.

Removing VAT

A VAT-inclusive price of 230 ÷ 1.15 = 200 before VAT, and the VAT is 30.

An inclusive price with decimals

99 with VAT ÷ 1.15 = 86.09 before VAT, and the VAT is 12.91.

A sale price

A product at 100 before VAT with a 20% discount: 80 + 12 VAT = 92 for the customer, instead of 115.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add 15% VAT to a price?

Multiply the price before VAT by 0.15 to get the VAT amount, or by 1.15 to get the price with VAT. For example, 200 × 1.15 = 230, of which 30 is VAT. For another rate, multiply by 1 + rate ÷ 100 (1.2 for 20%).

How do I take VAT out of a VAT-inclusive price?

Divide the price with VAT by 1.15 to get the price before VAT; the difference is the VAT. For example, 230 ÷ 1.15 = 200, so the VAT is 30. Don't multiply the inclusive price by 15%: 230 × 15% = 34.5, which is a common mistake.

Should my store show prices with VAT included?

It depends on where you sell. In Saudi Arabia, how prices are shown to consumers is regulated by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), so check its guidance before you change your store settings. Elsewhere, follow your local tax authority's rules. The calculator gives you the price before and after VAT so you can match what your store shows.

Is VAT charged before or after a discount?

VAT is charged on the price after the discount. A product at 100 before VAT with a 20% discount becomes 80, the VAT on it is 12 at 15%, and the customer pays 92. And because the discount is a percentage, taking 20% off the VAT-inclusive price of 115 gives the same 92.
