PopAutomate could not load

Select Try again. If the message stays, reload the page, or open PopAutomate again from your Shopify admin.

What you see

A red message PopAutomate could not load, with one of these lines under it:

Line under the headingWhat it meansTry again shown
Your session could not be confirmed. Try again, or reload the page.Shopify did not confirm who you are, even after a second try.Yes
Your store is still being connected. Try again in a moment.PopAutomate is still setting up your store, for example right after you installed it.Yes

Open PopAutomate from your Shopify admin. The page was opened outside the Shopify admin. No
Something went wrong. Try again.Another error.Yes

For the lines about the store still being connected and about Shopify or PopAutomate not responding, PopAutomate first tries again by itself four times, for about 8 seconds or longer, while the page shows a loading spinner.

PopAutomate could not load with the line about Shopify or PopAutomate not responding, and the Try again button.
PopAutomate could not load with the line about Shopify or PopAutomate not responding, and the Try again button.

You can also see a smaller message inside a page:

  • On Home: Your home page could not load, with "Your schedules are not affected. Try again in a moment." Home shows this banner alone, with no connection banner next to it.
  • On a schedule: The schedule builder could not load, with "Your schedules are not affected. Try again in a moment."

Why it happens

PopAutomate runs inside your Shopify admin. Each time it opens, it asks Shopify to confirm your session and checks that your store is connected. When that check fails, the whole app shows PopAutomate could not load. When a single page cannot get its data, only that page shows its own message.

Your schedules keep running on PopAutomate's servers while the app cannot load in your browser.

Fix

Try again or reload

  1. Select Try again.
  2. If the same message comes back, wait a minute and reload the page in your browser.

On Home or a schedule, the smaller message has its own Try again button. It loads that page again.

Open PopAutomate from your Shopify admin

The message Open PopAutomate from your Shopify admin. means the page was opened outside the admin, for example from a direct link to popautomate.com.

  1. Go to your Shopify admin.
  2. Open PopAutomate from the apps in the admin menu.

Two plain pages can also show instead of the app:

  • A page, in English only, that says "PopAutomate runs inside your Shopify admin. Open it from Apps in your Shopify admin." with a link to popautomate.com. It shows when the app's address is opened with no store in it.
  • A plain white page with the line "Open PopAutomate from your Shopify admin." It shows when the address has Shopify parameters but no valid store address. The page also repeats the sentence in Arabic on its second line.

Both mean the same thing: open PopAutomate from inside your Shopify admin.

The page stays blank with a JavaScript message

If the page says "PopAutomate needs JavaScript. Turn it on and reload the page.", turn on JavaScript in your browser's settings, then reload the page.

This store cannot be connected

Trying again does not help with This store cannot be connected right now. The error page has no Try again button for it. Select Open the help center, then contact PopAutomate support as described in Get help with PopAutomate on Shopify.

The store needs reconnecting

If PopAutomate opens but Home shows Reconnect your store or Approve new permissions, follow Reconnect your store: approve permissions or reopen the app.

When Your home page could not load shows, the badge next to Store connection reads Not confirmed, because the connection was not checked. The line under it reads "Store: {your store}" and not "Connected to ...". Select Try again before you reconnect anything.
