Prices did not go back after the schedule ended
Open the schedule's run in History, select View details, then Restore now: PopAutomate puts back every change of the schedule that is still in your store. If the offer is still live, the button is End now instead. Then use the causes below to see why, so the next schedule ends as planned.
What you seeβ
The schedule's end time has passed, and:
- products still show the discounted price, with the old price as the compare-at price;
- or products still have the new price;
- or products are still hidden from or shown on the Online Store, or still in or out of the collection.
In the run's details you may also see:
- Still in your store next to a change that was not put back;
- Couldn't be put back with a reason, and under Put the changes back a button Retry restore;
- Kept: changed in Shopify after the run on a change you made yourself;
- Nothing to put back with a reason, on a change whose product, variant or collection was deleted from Shopify.
Why it happensβ
Shopify has no end date for a sale. Prices go back only when PopAutomate puts them back at the end time, to the minute. Several things stop or delay that. Each fix below starts with the cause it covers.
Fixβ
The offer is still liveβ
While an offer is live, Restore now is not offered. The run says "This offer is still running in your store. It ends by itself on ... To end it now, use End now." and Schedules shows "This offer is live in your store". Wait for the end time, or select End now and End the offer now. The whole schedule ends and PopAutomate puts back what is still in your store. If the run of a live offer was only partly done, Restore now is offered instead, and its confirmation says that restoring ends the offer now. See End a live discount early with End now.
The end time is in another time zoneβ
The end time follows the time zone named in 3. When ("Times use ..."). That zone is your Shopify store's time zone. PopAutomate follows your store's zone, and Settings shows it read only. If you read the end time in your own zone, the prices went back at a different hour than you expected.
- Open Schedules, select Edit on the schedule's row, and read the time zone line in 3. When.
- Work out the end time in your own time zone and check the products after it.
See A schedule ran at the wrong time for the zone, and Your store's time zone, country and currency.
The put-back failed and PopAutomate is still tryingβ
If some products could not be put back, PopAutomate tries again after 15 minutes, after 1 hour and after 6 hours. The last try comes about 7 hours and 15 minutes after the end time. Wait until then before you change anything by hand. After the third retry it stops trying and the changes stay in your store.
Some changes show "Couldn't be put back"β
A change that failed to go back shows "Couldn't be put back" with the reason, for example "Shopify was not available." or "The store connection was lost." It stays in your store, and the schedule's row in Schedules still counts it under "Changes still in your store:". Under Put the changes back, the button reads Retry restore and a line says "Some changes couldn't be put back. Retry restore tries them again."
- Open History, select View details on the run, then under Put the changes back select Retry restore and Restore.
- If the same reason comes back, set the product by hand as in A run stopped or failed.
Read the steps and the reasons in Some changes could not be put back: Retry restore. Home does not show a message about a failed put-back: look at Schedules ("Changes still in your store:") and History.
The store needs reconnectingβ
If Home shows Reconnect your store or Approve new permissions, PopAutomate may not be able to change your products, so a put-back can fail. A put-back that fails is tried again as described under The put-back failed and PopAutomate is still trying, and then PopAutomate stops. Follow Reconnect your store: approve permissions or reopen the app as soon as you see the banner. Once the store is connected again, check the run's details. If the changes are still there, use Restore now or Retry restore as in A run stopped or failed.
If Home shows Your store is not connected, see You removed PopAutomate before the end time.
You changed the product during the scheduleβ
If you changed a variant's price or compare-at price yourself while the schedule was on, PopAutomate leaves that variant as you set it. The run's details show it as Kept: changed in Shopify after the run. The same goes for a product you hid or showed yourself. Set it the way you want it in your Shopify admin. Restore now and Retry restore leave it as you set it too.
A product or collection was deletedβ
If a product, a variant or a collection was deleted from Shopify, there is nothing to put back. The change shows "Nothing to put back:" with a reason such as "The collection no longer exists in Shopify." It does not count as Still in your store and does not make the button read Retry restore. When nothing at all is left, the run says "Nothing from this run is still in your store." and no button is offered.
Put everything back at the end was offβ
For New price, Hide from the Online Store, Show on the Online Store, Add to a collection and Remove from a collection, nothing goes back at the end time when Put everything back at the end was unchecked. Step 4. Review and save then said "The change stays after the schedule ends."
- Put the products back with Restore now as in A run stopped or failed.
- In the next schedule, keep Put everything back at the end checked in 3. When.
A Discount ends at its end time with no checkbox, so this cause does not apply to it.
The end time was 12:00 AMβ
PopAutomate reads an end time of 12:00 AM as the very start of the end date. The prices go back at midnight when the day before the end date turns into the end date, so a discount with the end date Friday at 12:00 AM is over at the start of Friday. If the prices are still discounted after that moment, one of the other causes on this page applies.
If you want the offer to include the whole end date, pick the end date after it with 12:00 AM, or pick 11:45 PM on the last day, in the next schedule.
A weekly scheduleβ
A weekly schedule puts the changes back at its end time on each chosen day, in the store's time zone. The next day starts at the same clock time. If the prices of one day did not go back, the causes on this page apply to that day, and the schedule keeps running on its next day.
Some price changes could not be confirmedβ
If the Edit schedule page lists products under Some price changes could not be confirmed, those products are not put back. Follow Some price changes could not be confirmed.
A run stopped or failedβ
When a run fails, nothing is put back at the end time, and what it changed before it failed stays changed. A run that stopped on a store problem after it changed some products is different: its changes are put back at the end time, like those of a partly done run. On Home, the schedule counts under Need attention.
Put the changes back with Restore now:
- In the Shopify admin sidebar, under PopAutomate, select History.
- On the schedule's run, select View details. Products that are still changed show Still in your store.
- Under Put the changes back, select Restore now, check the list, then select Restore. PopAutomate starts changing your store right away.
The restore covers every change of the schedule that is still in your store, not only the run you opened. See Run details: what each part of a run shows.
If Restore now is not offered, or a product stays changed, set it back in your Shopify admin:
- Open each product of the schedule.
- For a Discount: the price from before is now the compare-at price. Set the price to that amount and clear the compare-at price.
- If the product was already on sale before the schedule, Shopify no longer shows its earlier sale price. Set that price from your own records, and keep the compare-at price.
- For New price: set the price from your own records. The compare-at price was not changed. The details show each change as "before β after", so the first value is the one to go back to.
- For Hide from the Online Store, Show on the Online Store or a collection change, set the product's sales channels or collections back by hand.
If a Hide or Show schedule stopped, see Schedule blocked: add the Online Store sales channel.
You removed PopAutomate before the end timeβ
When you remove PopAutomate, it pauses your active schedules and cancels a run in progress. While it is removed it cannot change your store, so nothing is put back. A due put-back waits and is looked at again every 15 minutes. Set the products back by hand as in A run stopped or failed. See also Uninstall PopAutomate and what happens to your data.
Still stuck?β
Contact PopAutomate support as described in Get help with PopAutomate on Shopify. Send:
- the name of the schedule and its end date and time;
- your store's myshopify.com address;
- one product that did not go back, with its price and compare-at price now, and the number of the run, for example Run #12.
