A schedule paused itself: why and how to turn it back on

Most often you clicked Stop execution, the schedule failed twice in a row, or you restored it from Deleted. Fix the cause, then click Activate at the top of the schedule.

To find the cause, open the schedule and read the banner at the top, then follow the fix that matches what you see.

What you see

  • The schedule status is Paused, and a Paused banner appears at the top: "It won't run until you turn it on. Changes already made in your store stay."
  • Or its status is Disabled, with a Didn't run banner at the top that says "It failed twice in a row, so we stopped it. Fix the cause and turn it back on."
  • Or a red banner at the top that starts "Paused: the connection to …". The banner says "Paused", but the schedule status here is Disabled: the schedule is not paused, it cannot run until you reconnect your store.
  • On Home, a card whose title is the schedule name followed by "» is paused" (the app shows the » as written), with "We stopped it after repeated failures. Check why, then turn it back on." The card says "paused", but the schedule status is Disabled.
  • In Schedules, the schedule's switch is off.
  • You clicked Run it now on a page that was already open, and saw "The schedule is paused. Turn it on first."

Why it happens

A schedule becomes Paused in these cases:

  • You clicked Stop execution while it was running.
  • You restored it from Deleted.
  • You paused it with the Pause button or the switch in Schedules.

The status is Disabled in these cases:

  • A repeating schedule failed twice in a row, so PopAutomate stopped it.
  • The connection to your store was lost. The schedule is not paused and keeps its settings, but it cannot run until you reconnect. The red banner still begins with "Paused:".
  • The last run did not start for another reason, such as a category that became empty or an incomplete schedule. Here too the schedule is not paused. The fix is in A schedule did not run on time: why and how to fix it.

Fix

Start with the fix that matches what you see at the top of the schedule.

You stopped the run while it was going

Stop execution stops the current run and also pauses the schedule, so its next times do not run. Products that changed before the stop stay as they are. Details in Stop a run that is in progress on your store.

  1. Open the schedule from Schedules.
  2. Click Activate at the top of the page. "Activated." appears, and the schedule goes back to its times.

On a one-time schedule, the stop ends its only run: it will not run on its own again, even after Activate. To change the remaining products, set up a new schedule.

Do not click Run it now to finish the remaining products: it applies the change to every product in the schedule again, including those that changed before the stop. On a price change by percentage or amount, the new price is calculated from the current price, so those products change price a second time. When this button is useful: Run a schedule now instead of waiting for its time.

If you want to restore the products that changed, click Restore instead of Activate, if it appears at the top of the schedule.

On a discount, the discount ends, and an earlier sale price the product had does not come back.

It failed twice in a row

  1. Open the schedule from Schedules.
  2. Open the last run in Run history and read the reason.
  3. Fix the cause. The reasons and their fixes are in A schedule did not run on time: why and how to fix it.
  4. Click Activate at the top of the schedule, or Turn back on on the Home card.

After you activate it, PopAutomate counts failures from zero. The schedule stops again only if it fails twice in a row after that.

You restored it from Deleted

A schedule you restore from Deleted comes back Paused, so it does not suddenly run in your store. You see "Restored paused. Activate when ready." A draft comes back as a draft, and a schedule that had ended comes back ended. Deleting and restoring in full: Delete a schedule and restore it from Deleted.

  1. Open the schedule and check its time and products.
  2. Click Activate when you want it to run.

If it is a one-time schedule that has never run and its time has passed, it runs within about a minute after you click Activate. Change the time first if you do not want that.

The connection to your store was lost

The banner says: "It won't run until you reconnect the store. After that, the missed schedules will run."

  1. Click Reconnect in the banner.
  2. Follow the steps in Store disconnected and schedules paused: how to reconnect. If your store is on Zid, follow Your store is on Zid in the same article.

After you reconnect, the schedule runs on its own. You do not need Activate.

If you click Activate on a paused schedule while your store is not connected, you see "Turned on, but it can't run until you reconnect your store." If you see "Turned on, but it still can't run. See the notice above.", read the banner at the top of the schedule.

Still stuck?

If the schedule stays stopped after the fix, click Support in the menu on the left. On your phone, tap Contact us in the account menu. The steps are in Contact PopAutomate support on WhatsApp. Send:

  • The schedule name and your store name.
  • A screenshot of the schedule page with the banner and Run history.
  • What you clicked before the schedule stopped, if you remember.

Next: Pause a schedule and turn it back on, or go back to Fix a PopAutomate problem: where did you see it?.
